Rear Mounted Spotlight

For those of you still using the factory spare tire holder, I found the perfect use for the wasted space in the center of the spare tire.

You will need:

* Fog/spot light
* A 2 electrode weather proof connector with approx. 3 feet of wire.
* RBV style snap on center cap (95+ Ranger/ Explorer)
* Three special lug nuts for the above mentioned center cap. part # F8TZ-1012-A (approx $1.50 at the dealer or your local wrecking yard)

I merely drilled 2 holes in the back of the spot-light and bolted it to the center cap using a nut/bolt combo.

The wiring is merely spliced into the reverse light on the passenger side. You probably won't spend a whole lot of time in reverse so a relay likely isn't necessary.

Make sure you tape or zip-tie the wiring to the carrier frame to keep it tidy and presto!

Now you won't have to worry about backing over things in the dark!

The snap on center cap and weather pack connector allow for easy removal should you need to access the spare tire

You can see the center cap in the picture below just behind the spot light.
