DEEP-SOUTH BOY (Gainesville/ Bronson, Florida)

« on: March 18, 2008, 07:04:18 PM »

Welp's my latest Time/$$$ pit  ....

It's a 1993 Single-cab/Short-bed 2wd Ford Ranger

I bought it for $500 from a guy I work with after he roll'd it. Here's how it's starting out

As I bought it...

Next I built myself a Tow-bar & brought it back here to Gainesville so I could start workin' on it

It's got mitch-match'd rims & tires so the first thing I did was dig up two pairs of same tire/rim combo's for the front/rear & get all the may-pop's off

At the moment I've got  two 31x12.5x15's on the back

And two 27x6x14's on the front  for that "nostalgic" Hot-Rod look  (OK... It's all I've got to work with right now :tooth: )

But I actually kinda like that look. Especially since it's only a 2wd

i like the "big n little" look.  paint all the rims black and it'll blend in better.  is the cab salvageable? looks like its goobered up around the drivers door.  does it still drive straight?

so what are your plans for it?

if you are going for a budget beater, i say bend the cab back enough to fit a new windshield, get a junkyard drivers door, and drive the heck out of it.

It'll be my DD with a Baha look/performance

It's got a 2.3L 4-banger/5-spd. I've got a set of 32x12.5x15 BFG A/T's on Black Craiger Soft-8's  that will eventully go under it. In Time I'll probably get a 4:10 or 4:56 gear in the back to keep the engine/trans from havin' to work too  hard.

The plan for it it to chop the top off completely ( I was gonna chop it behind the wind-shield, but it's all jack'd up on the driver's side from the roll so I'm just gonna cut it all off & put a flip-down Wind-Shield from an EB parts catalog on it  headbang Since it won't have a roof, it'll eventually get a 6-point roll-cage (4 int he cab, 2 in the bed) It'll be tied into the Frame; & I'll make a Bakini Soft-Top for it... For now I'm just gonna put a roll-bar in the cab over the seats with two slanted braces goin' back into the Bed.... It's gonna be my DD so it'll stay 2wd & end up bein' very nice lookin'  Later.

Got a lot done yesterday  popcorn1 Got half the plugs changed out...(gonna have to get a 5/8th deep-well plugg-socket on a flexible extention to get to the 4 on the driver's side...) Gonna need to get some new ignition wires as well... most of the ones on there were old as junk & broke as they got pull'd off headscratch

My ne Starter's install'd though... gonna have to get a fly-wheel though becasue I saw some teeth missin' from this one (that could be the reason the old starter got jack'd... a gap in the teeth :tooth: can work wonders on that lil bendix-gear...)

Also got both the doors cut down, (cut-off the arch' where the glass would have previously roll'd up into) & got both the Windshield pillars cut too... (all with a flippin' HACK-SAW banghead ) 30 didn't have any power to help me out at the moment.... I'm not gonna cut the rear cab-corner pillars until I can use my DeWalt Grinder with a cuttin' disc on it...  I've got pic's but don't have a computer of my own to use at the moment so the pic's will all just have to stay on my camera until' I get an opportunity to down-load em' all & then up-load em' to the host-site & post em' here  have fun waiting & don't hold your breath  emo9 Later!
